Our Vision

"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea" (Hab. 2:14).

Above all, the Bible is a book of hope. From beginning to end, God's Word contains the promise that the Lord will have dominon from sea to sea and his glory will fill the earth (Ps. 72:8; Isa. 11:9). This promise was made to Abraham when God called him out of Ur of the Chaldeans (Gen. 12:1-3). It was later affirmed to King David that one of his sons would sit on his throne forever and his kingdom would extend throughout the Gentile nations (Ps. 2; 2 Sam. 7:14; Isa. 9:6-8). This promise has been fulfilled in Jesus Christ -- the King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Rev. 19:16). In the Great Commission, Jesus declared that "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me... Go thererfore and make disciples of all nations..." (Matt. 28:18-19). The extent of Jesus' reign includes all of heaven and earth. That means that every square inch of this universe is under his sovereign authority. Since Jesus rules and reigns from his throne in heaven, we can have hope that He will build his church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it (Matt. 16:18). As a church, we rest in that hope and labor with the confidence that the same Lord who has authority over every molecule in the universe will fulfill his promise. At Three Rivers, our vision is to participate in the building of God's kingdom in whatever ways the Lord permits. He is the Potter; we are the clay.
