Welcome to Three Rivers Kids and Youth!
We desire to partner with parents to prepare students for a lifetime of walking with Jesus.
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 19:14).
At Three Rivers, we believe children are a vital part of our ministry and worshipping community, and that the life-long journey of faith begins and ends with the gospel. This means that children can comprehend the good news about Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. We therefore build our children's ministry the same way we do our adult ministries ... centered around the gospel of Jesus Christ, and with His mission to the world as the central command.

Nursery (0-4 years old)
Our nursery is available for 0–4-year-olds during the worship service. There are always two volunteers working in the nursery, and it offers a bathroom connected to the nursery, designed with little bodies in mind.
When children are checked in, parents receive a pager to take into the sanctuary, with peace of mind that they will be contacted if an issue arises.

Sunday School: Pre-K - Kindergarten
Currently, Brenda Sheffield is our Sunday School teacher of our precious Pre-K through Kindergarten children. Our Three Rivers mission for children’s and youth ministry is to partner with parents to prepare students for a lifetime of walking with Jesus. Currently, this class uses The Jesus Storybook Bible curriculum, which is written especially for young children. We talk about how every story points to Jesus!
In this class, students begin class with music, and then they read a specific Bible Story together. They have a snack and participate in a related activity as they discuss the story. Last, they learn to pray together in the "Prayer Tipi."
"But Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven."
- Matthew 19:14

Sunday School: 1st - 3rd Grade

Sunday School: 4th - 6th Grade
Currently, Amanda Gain and Joanna Baker will be leading our 1st-3rd grade classes. This class uses The Biggest Story curriculum. Through this engaging and gospel-centered program, children walk through the incredible story of the Bible—from Genesis to Revelation—which helps children see how each part points to Jesus. In this class, the goal is to create a joyful, safe, and nurturing environment where your children can learn more about God’s love and develop a deeper relationship with Him.
At Three Rivers, we view our 4-6th grade class as a transition to help prepare students for youth group and ultimately for life as adults in the church. Our 4-6th graders will continue to review how to pray and focus on catechism memorization. Additionally, we will be using a PCA-endorsed curriculum from One Story Ministries called “Implementing God’s Word: Biblical Worldview Basics.” We will be equipping youth to apply the truths of Scripture by studying the attributes of God.
Each Sunday, students:
Explore the story of the day through Scripture and discussion,
Enjoy a craft and/or activity to reinforce the lesson in a hands-on way,
End with prayer as we encourage kids to talk to God out loud and to pray for others.
Currently, our 4-6th grade class will be co-taught by Amber Funderburk and Katrina Murphy. Each Sunday, students will have drill time (i.e. Bible review, catechism memorization, verse memorization), mind-in-training (discussion of a Biblical view of the mind), Bible implementation (the heart and soul of the lesson; and a craft/activity), and a Mind-in-Action application challenge.
C.R.E.W.
(Christians - Ready - Equipped - Willing)
Youth Group: 7th - 12th Grades
Our Three Rivers Youth Group uses a PCA-endorsed curriculum called “Implementing God’s Word” (by One Story Ministries) to study Apologetics—"the discipline of defending the Christian faith through reasoned arguments and systematic presentations.”
Additionally, students discuss how to move on from knowing what they believe to defending what they believe. They also continue to practice personal and corporate prayer.
Throughout the year, C.R.E.W. meets periodically on Sunday evenings and special activities are planned to provide fellowship, fun and develop Christian relationships between their peers and with adults in the church.
